The increasing number of fraud cases is a significant challenge for a country's economy, including Indonesia, damaging the financial system, business, and the welfare of society as a whole. This research explores the relationship between Gen Z and the development of digital technology in creating an economy that is more transparent and free from fraudulent practices. Gen Z, who was born in the digital era (1997-2012), has an advantage in understanding and adapting to technology, which can be used to prevent fraud. Their ability to analyze digital data, recognize suspicious transaction patterns, and utilize the latest technology platforms is an important asset in efforts to eradicate fraud, which is now rampant in Indonesia. In Indonesia, various forms of fraud, such as online fraud, fake
investment modes, and misuse of personal data, are increasingly reported. In this context, the concept of the Fraud Triangle, which includes three elements: pressure, opportunity, and rationalization—becomes important in understanding the motivations behind fraudulent practices. Stress can come from urgent financial need, opportunities arise when internal control systems are weak, and rationalization occurs when individuals feel entitled to commit fraud. Gen Z
characteristics that prioritize transparency, authenticity, and ethical values in doing business have the potential to strengthen the anti-fraud culture in various sectors, including the financial sector in Indonesia. However, challenges remain in optimizing the potential of Gen Z to create a fraud-free economy. Solid collaboration between educational institutions, the business sector, and governments is needed to provide Gen Z with in-depth knowledge of the financial system, anti-fraud regulations, and necessary digital investigative skills. In addition, this effort also requires support in the form of policies that encourage the
strengthening of digital infrastructure and data protection. This study aims to analyze how the unique characteristics of Gen Z can be optimally utilized to build a more transparent economic system and avoid fraudulent practices in Indonesia.
