Abstract

Kawung Batik is a rich and valuable cultural heritage, and is considered a unique art form. In this research, an exploratory method was used to study the mathematical structure underlying the Kawung batik motif and its impact on visual beauty. Through an interdisciplinary approach, mathematical concepts such as symmetry, geometry and pattern are applied to analyze Kawung batik motifs. In this case, it shows that Kawung batik displays complex symmetry patterns, using geometric elements such as circles and squares. These patterns provide harmonious visual beauty and highlight the craftsmen's skill in applying mathematical principles to their works of art. The cultural values contained in Kawung batik and how mathematics is an important factor in maintaining and developing this cultural heritage.
