Abstract

Mathematical Beliefs are the beliefs held by students about mathematics. When learning mathematics, mathematical confidence is very important. Greater confidence about what is being studied will result in better learning outcomes. The aim of this research is to determine the influence of mathematical beliefs on the ability to understand concepts in high school students. Quantitative research using ex-post facto methods is this type of research. The population used in this research was class 10 of SMAN 1 Bojong. The data source for this research is class 10 B students for the 2023/2024 academic year. The technique used in collecting data is using concept understanding ability test instruments and non-mathematical beliefs questionnaire tests. The instrument was tested first in a trial class. The research data were analyzed using a simple regression test with prerequisite tests including, normality test, homogeneity test, linearity test via SPSS. The results of the analysis that have been carried out show that there is a 40% influence of mathematical beliefs on students' ability to understand mathematical concepts and the remaining 60% is influenced by other factors.
