CODE MIXING AND CODE SWITCHING ANALYSIS IN STUDENTS COMMENT AND STATUS OF FACEBOOK SOCIAL MEDIA GROUP OF DIARY SEKOLAHKU

Abstract

This research aims to analyse code-mixing and code-switching on Facebook as a social media in which there is a group called ‘Diary Sekolahku’. This research also aims to explain the reasons for the use of code switching and code-mixing. This analysis is framed in Musyken's (2000) code-mixing theory and Poplack's (1980) code-switching theory by using descriptive research method used in language research to collect and describe data in a natural way. The procedural steps of this method involve analysing and describing the use of code-mixing and code-switching in the statuses and comments used by students in the Facebook group ‘Diary Sekolahku’.limited by sampling a total of fifteen ,The results showed that there were thirteen insertions and two inter-sententials that appeared most frequently.
