PROGRAM PENGUATAN KARAKTER DI SMAN 1 KEDUNGWUNI; TELAAH AKAR MASALAH DAN SOLUSI UNTUK SISWA DENGAN PERHATIAN KHUSUS

Abstract

As a school which pays attention to the character building, SMAN 1 Kedungwuni held an intensive coaching for problematic students entitled ‘The New Me.’ The school cooperated with the army in the district office of Kedungwuni and some psychologists and motivators. The program was held from 1 July 2024 until 5 July 2024. Based on the program, the research entitled The Program of Character Building in SMAN 1 Kedungwuni ; An Analysis of the Root of Problems and Solutions for Problematic Students, was conducted. The research is aimed to find the root of problems and solutions to cope with the problematic students to make them better and more responsible. The research is a qualitative descriptive one with the data collection is from observations, interview, questionnaires, document analysis, and literature study. The research reveals that the program is beneficial for the students, and the researcher finds out that the root of the problems of the problematic students is the crisis of identity. The crisis can be seen when it is triggered by the ways of parenting, circle of socialization, financial problem, the unexpected behavior of others, and gadget. As the solutions of the problem, the researcher offers the school to try to intensify the communication and cooperation with the students’ parents, facilitate the parenting sessions, create the atmosphere of learning which is full of empathy, compassion, and attention, make the teaching and learning process grow the students’ enthusiasm of studying as well as their good character, hold the coaching class by the homeroom teachers and counselling teachers, provide financial assistance for the poor students, enforce the school rules for students, and regulate the use of gadget.
