FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE USED IN SONG LYRICS OF ALBUM “HONEYMOON” BY LANA DEL REY

Abstract

This study discusses the figure of speech found in the lyrics of Lana Del Rey's song on the Honeymoon album. The aim of the researcher is to find out the types of figure of speech and to find out the dominant figurative language in Honeymoon album. The data source in this study is a collection of song lyrics from Lana Del Rey's album Honeymoon which consists of 13 song lyrics. The data in this study are figure of speech contained in a collection of song lyrics of Lana Del Rey. The method used in this study is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, and found 94 lyric data in 7 types of figurative language, namely Simile 10,63% or 10 data, Metaphor 13,82% or 13 data, Personification 7,44% or 7 data, Symbol 9,57% or 9 data, Hyperbole 48,93% or 46 data, Alliteration 5,31% or 5 data, Rhyme 4,25% or 4 data, as well as figurative language hyperbole as a figurative language with the most data found, as many as 46 data or 48.9%. The results of this study are dominated by hyperbole figurative language in the collection of Lana Del Rey song lyrics.
