Abstrak

Waste management in Indonesia faces increasingly pressing challenges. The significant rise in waste volume contrasts sharply with the low public awareness regarding the importance of recycling. This situation calls for a new and innovative approach. This study proposes the development of SPOTING (Smart Platform for Organic and non-organic Trash Tracking) as a solution. The application is designed to integrate digital technology to facilitate more effective waste reporting and collection. Using a qualitative descriptive approach and literature review, this research provides an in-depth analysis of various challenges and opportunities in waste management, particularly in the Central Java region. SPOTING functions as a bridge between the public who wish to report waste and collectors seeking economically valuable waste sources. The main features of the application include a waste location reporting system, navigation tools to help collectors find locations, and a point-based reward system designed to motivate active public participation. SPOTING holds great potential to foster public engagement, strengthen the concept of a circular economy, and substantially reduce waste accumulation. More than just a waste management tool, SPOTING is expected to transform into a sustainable ecosystem that supports comprehensive social and economic empowerment.
