POSITIVE POLITENESS DALAM BERTANYA DAN MEMINTA IJIN MELALUI PESAN WA MAHASISWA KEPADA DOSEN

Abstract

A real communication, especially in creating the conversation among the individuals should follow the conversation rule. That rule consists of so many principles. One of them is Politeness Principle. Politeness Principle is a fundamental thing in pragmatics. The objective of this research was to describe positive politeness used by the student to the lecturer in delivering questions and asking permission through WA message. The researcher used Descriptive Qualitative method. The data of this research was in the form of utterances. The finding of this research was the use of some strategies of positive politeness, those are giving more attention, the use of friendship marker, giving excuse, intensifying attention to the speaker. Those strategies were used to minimize the effect of face threatening acts to the hearer.
