ECOLOGICAL ISSUES IN WALT DISNEY’S “MOANA”

Abstract

The animation Moana ( 2016 ) is a very interesting story to explore because there are many ecological messages that reflect in our life so that we can realize that nature,nuture, and culture. They are important for us and they have to be balanced. If the nature fell out of balance so it became a destructive rather than nurturing . This reasearch discussed about Ecological Issue in Moana’s film which aimed to reveal the ecological issues in Moana’s film. On the other hand, the researchers use the ecocritism to reveal the ecological issue that related to nature , culture and nurture. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative methods.Based on the Moana’s film, the researcher find out that the nurture which shows the characters try to take care and use the environment well. The nature shows that Te Fi Ti island is prosperous before Maui (demigod) stole the heart of Te Fi Ti which represent when human were selfish and exploite the nature so it becomes destroyed and disaster for human. Beside, The researcher find that the culture of the characters described as voyagers and they are live in nature.
