Abstract

This research is motivated by the critical thinking, creative thinking, and problem-solving (Higher Order Thinking Skills - HOTS) abilities of elementary school students in Lebak Regency, Banten, within the context of mathematics learning. A qualitative descriptive research method focused on higher-order thinking Skills (HOTS). A sample of 346 students from 10 elementary schools was selected using the Stratified Random Sampling technique. Data were collected through essay tests and triangulation of techniques and sources, including observation, interviews, and documentation. The instruments were tested for validity and reliability. The analysis results showed that the majority of students had sufficient critical thinking abilities (42.89%), insufficient creative thinking abilities (39.67%), and sufficient problem-solving abilities (42.78%). Emphasis needs to be placed on decision evaluation and originality. Recommendations involve policymakers, schools, and teachers in enhancing students' understanding and skills in HOTS through a more contextual learning approach.
