Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic period requires educators and students to adapt in learning patterns and learning methods that support optimal blended learning, by integrating online learning. Learning online requires students not only in terms of learning outcomes, but also in mathematical communication. Mathematical communication ability are one of the important indicators of learning mathematics around the world, especially in statistics courses which require the ability to interpret the results of data analysis. The importance of mathematical communication ability is seen from several studies in the last decade on mathematical communication. Indicators of mathematical communication ability are representation, listening, reading, discussion, and writing which are reflected in blended learning. Blended learning is divided into face-to-face and online learning. This study aims to explore students' communication ability by analyzing the test results after blended learning is implemented. The research subjects were students taking the fifth semester in statistics course during the Covid-19 pandemic. The instruments in this study were mathematical communication ability test  and interview. The differences in learning methods in blended learning are also analyzed based on indicators of mathematical communication ability.

Key Words: mathematical communication, blended learning, covid-19, statistics.
